My name is Sophia Pavlou, I am a yoga, aerial yoga, aerial dance instructor from Greece and a classical singer.
My first contact with the aerial fabric was the moment I started taking aerial dance-hammock classes. I fell in love with the freedom and the adrenaline, that comes with hanging on the hammock. I was stunned by the poetry and beauty of the aerial fabric. I could express herself and also was so grateful for the big change in my body, strength, and flexibility.
I started then to be interested in aerial yoga and yoga, since I wanted a serious and extended study of the body and most importantly of the breath.
I consequently fell in love with the spirituality of yoga and the amazing breath benefits in the body and soul. I appreciated the great benefits of meditation, which helped me progress both in my personal and professional life. Yoga helped to keep- and still keeps- the balance in my life!
I finished my Hatha yoga teacher training at Yoga & Budo Center and aerial teacher training at the Free flow fitness academy. I also hold a stretch your limits (stretching instructor) certification, by BSF academy Greece and Nissim Zoares. I attended private class in Athens with internationally renowned flexibility instructor Kristina Nekyia and attended workshops with aerial stars like Holly Ann Jarvis and Sarah Bebe holmes. I have taught aerial dance and yoga and choreographed aerial performances.
In 2018 I moved to Groningen. Parallel to my work as an aerial yoga and yoga teacher, I continue studying classical vocals at the Prince Claus Conservatory of the Hanze University.
Being a classical singing student- I have the privilege of breath coaching at the conservatory. These lessons have expanded and nourished my ideas for my yoga teachings. Currently, I am also developing and teaching a yoga-based workout for singers, at the Prince Claus Conservatory.
As a yoga teacher, I feel so rewarded when seeing the relaxed faces and the smiles of my students at the end of a class. I believe yoga has a tremendously beneficial effect on body and psychology. Aerial yoga, in a very natural and fun way, it works out the body and mind intensively.
In my classes, I give importance to a correct engagement of muscles and alignment. I pay special attention to the breath during the class. I always want to promote empowerment and with positive encouragement to bring the student a step further, by being very deeply in the moment in the exercise, enjoying the work and enjoying the beautiful moment when body and mind connect!
I welcome you to my class, to experience a wonderful and awakening journey on body and soul!
